Get up and Glow*Green Smoothie

I absolutely love green smoothies! There is nothing more refreshing and clean feeling, and you can jam pack them full of nutritious goodness, adding just about any fruits and veggies you want! I much prefer smoothies over juicing because with a smoothie you get the healthy fiber from the whole fruit and not just its juice, it's also much more satisfying to drink a big frothy smoothie then a cup of juice!
This little number may sound a little odd because I've added basil, but somehow it all ties together! I was shopping at Trader Joe's the other day and they had beautiful basil plants, so I picked one up and have been adding it to just about everything(You can omit the basil if it seems weird to you, but give it a try!)
So much good stuff going on here: The cucumber and kale are great for cleansing the body, bananas provide added fiber and energy, pears contain beautifying minerals, and basil helps to clear your skin! This is a great way to start your morning, cleansing and beginning the day on a bright, healthy note! Since there are whole fruits and veggies going into this drink, you definitely want to use a good high speed blender to really allow everything come together with a smooth consistency..if not it may get a little chunky. If you find that you enjoy a green smoothie such as this, have some fun with it and experiment with different kinds of fruits, veggies, herbs, etc!

-1 pear, cut into smaller pieces
-1/2 banana, frozen
-a few slices of cucumber
-3 or 4 basil leaves
-1 cup frozen kale
-a few fresh romaine leaves
-juice from 1/2 lemon
-4 drops of liquid stevia
-8 ounces water or coconut water
Add ice to thicken it up and make it cold, then blend all together until smooth.
