At Bed Bath and Beyond a few weeks ago I came across...Yonanas. I felt a little silly buying it, like I was gonna go home and be that little girl excited to play with her easy bake oven. But I'll tell you what...that's what makes this so fun! It's easy and it just takes a few ingredients to whip up a super healthy and delicious bowl of "frozen yogurt". It gets even better, it's completely dairy free since this "fro-yo" is made of frozen bananas!
Bananas really have gotten a bad reputation...it is true that they are higher in sugar/carbs then many other fruits. But if you are feeling like a cold, sweet treat...compared to the highly processed sugary, fat filled ice creams, frozen yogurts and other desserts out there, bananas should be viewed as a wonder food!
In all honesty, for a while I bought into the thought of "bananas are bad". After research and seeing for myself that eating bananas actually have helped me to stay lean and energetic...I now make sure that I have bananas as a regular in my diet every day. How can you say no to this amazing, naturally sweet fruit that helps improve your mood, sleep patterns and skin health; is high in potassium, magnesium and Vit B6; and is a good source of fiber?!
I used my Yonanas the other day when I was feeling like something sweet after dinner but didn't want to feel like crap after I ate it. This was the perfect solution!
1/2 cup frozen organic mixed berries, 1 frozen banana and a dash of cinnamon
That's it! All went into the Yonanas machine and out came, in the consistency of frozen yogurt, my super healthy and amazingly delicious dessert. But..there's more!! I felt like adding something with a little crunch, granola...nuts? Nah... Wait! I recently posted about the crazy good health benefits of coconut oil, and I knew when coconut oil cools it hardens. Perfect! By drizzling a little coconut oil over my "fro-yo", it instantly turned solid and became just like that dessert topping Magic Shell (without all the extra sugar and processed fats). Omg..Having my dessert and eating it too...without having a stomach ache or feeling gross after. Woo! Lovin' me some Yonanas!
